A small detail about getting a Swedish visa

I have been getting mails about visa issues on Sweden from many of my African brothers and sisters. I thought about writing something about it and giving some details people neglect when they are applying for a visa.

The point i want is that if you are applying from a country which has a poor postal system , you might loose your reply or may never see it. One thing that is true and certain is that after applying for your visa the Swedish authorities will and always send you a decision. There is no argument about that. If you do not receive a reply then you have to check out with the nearest post office or the address you were to receive your reply from, if in case you used somebody else´s address. Maybe the post address you used became inactive.

The number to call for your reply should be active and reliable and easily accessed. i think you should buy a mobile phone and keep it active and wait for your reply. You will always get that call and you will know the immigrations decision.

My advice on this issue is that you should try to get a reliable, stable and active postal address and telephone number that is functional so that you can be sure to get a reply and know their decision. You can use a company´s postal address as your recipients if you have a friend or family member working in that company. The reply address and telephone number is a small detail that is very important and should always be considered. How will it be if you can loose you life´s opportunity just because of a simple postal address or a missed call? The ball is now in your court.
Good luck!!

Hello,

I am one of the newly admitted student of malmo university on the 14th of may 2009. I am originally from Nigeria and i live in Nigeria.
On the 28th of july i went along with all required genue documents to the swedish embassy in my home country to apply for a Student resident permit so as to be able to enter sweden for my studies but just on the 7th of july i got a reply from the immigration board in sweden saying that my bank statements have proved to be false. To me, this is more or less like an insult to my personality and my bank.

After hearing such decision from the immigration board, i went straight to my bank to complain and they said that the immigration board has given a wrong and false decision. They even gave me another reference letter which i later sent to the immigration board. If you ask me about this issue, I will just have to tell you that the decision was just made without confirmation. The decision is a pure lie as i am very sure of all documents i summited. for God sake, we do pay for visa fees and i see no reason why they should be treating us like this. It is very unfair.

Well at this stage, my lawyer has already sent an appeal but the swedish immigration board still couldnt change it decision.. instead they told me that my appeal has been forwarded to migration court.

I really dont know much about what the court will have to do. Is there anyway i could get a power of attorney over there in sweden that can actually stand for my case.

Please i really need your help.God bless you.

Here is my email. kingsley.bayo@yahoo.com

Hello! I have a question I used to be in a relation with a Swedish person, but we broke up last week and my visa will expire in July, I want to stay 3 more months to keep learning swedish, is it possible to apply to a student visa from within Sweden if I have a resident permit that will expire soon?

Possible to change to student visa but you need to get admission first.Getting admission or getting a student visa has nothing to do with your private life .It can be an advantage because u are already here .Apply today to any Swedish University.I hope your english credentials are good and solid.Apply for an international course given in only english.Do it through www.studera.nu
goodluck!

Getting jobs in Sweden is tough as a student. I will advice you come well loaded with money and try to contact others from your home country living here already and share rents, food cost and experience with them.Sweden is not like England where u get job fast and you can also lose it fast.In Sweden its different .Once u get employed u are employed. It makes companies to take their time and employ when really in need.Swedes are skeptical of immigrants and as usual the issue of discrimination or racism can also be an issue

Im currently working in stockholm since past 6 months. Visited your blog and need some info from u. I am from india and here on a project assignment in software testing. But I should return back to india once my assignment is complete . I started liking Sweden and want to live here . What is the best way to get another job here and if that is not possible should i consider other ways like studies to stay here longer? I have completed Bachelors in engineering and have work experience of 5 years in it industry

Hi Ngala,
At this moment am almost having a heart attack. My son after trying for 3 times finally got admission in a certain university.Actually after the university intervened. Now he even got 100% scholarship from the said university. a month after application for resident permit,he sent email to the embassy asking about when he will go for biometrics. The reply was ''come tomorrow not for biometrics but for notification of the decision.
But i think migrationsverket sends email asking him to go collect decision and go with PP.but he was told just to go and collect decision.
He should start on January 12th.
Personally i live in sweden and the boy has been to sweden many times. Its very stressful
